Best Practices – Checks

A: While it is common for treasurers to have check signing authorization there is no legal requirement that the treasurer of a PAC be the person signing checks.  The FEC has recommended Internal Controls which are contained in the attached notice.  Authorization of check signatures should follow the recommendations.  In addition, all signatories should be approved by the PAC board and certified to the bank.
